To ensure a calm and relaxing appointment your pup will be gently exposed to:

• Bath
• Dryer
• Nail clipping
• Clippers - The clippers are run over the pup without the blades,  no clipping is performed. I will do a trim around the face and body. Also a sanitary trim if necessary. 
• Ear Cleaning

For a puppy's first groom it is important to slowly introduce new sounds, feelings and smells to familiarise the pup without it being too stressful for them. Training them when young shapes the way your puppy feels about grooming for the rest of their life. 

For dogs under 6 months & 10kg (after second vaccination).

The benefit of bathing a dog is it helps improve the dog's health and shine of the coat. It helps to remove dead hair and skin cells which can irritate and cause skin problems if not bathed regularly. Also helps with removing dirt and oils from the skin. It's best to bath a dog once a month at most.

It helps to remove dead hair and skin cells which can irritate and cause skin problems if not bathed regularly. Also helps with removing dirt and oils from the skin. It is important to maintain and have a routine with a long coated dog to prevent heavy matting. It's best to bath a dog once a month at most. Book regular appointments for a happy and heathy dog.

Animals with severely matted coats require extra attention. 

Mats in an animal’s coat grow tight and can ultimately damage and tear the animal’s skin. Which provides a breeding ground for parasite infections. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the dog’s skin allowing mould, fungus, or bacteria to grow, resulting in skin irritations.

Removing a heavily matted coat can cause nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to skin growths trapped in the mats. Shaving is always the safest way to remove heavy matting and so I will always shave a matted coat rather than use scissors. This results in a closely shaved coat.

There is an additional charge for this process as it is time consuming and causes extra wear and tear on grooming equipment.

 
Prevention is the best defence against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments, every 4-6 weeks.

Trimming nails can be tricky so I am happy to help. Included in all grooms. May take extra time depending on the dog's behaviour and how well they tolerate nail clipping. Includes clipping and filing.
